Tarantula and surrounding area of the LMC

Hi all,
this is the last of my images from SPSP.

Originally planned to make this into a mosaic of the LMC but at least one of the panels has no data as the battery in the camera died and by then the LMC was getting too low in the sky anyway.

Had major struggles trying to process this into something reasonable colour-wise.
Anyway here it is. Comments and feedback welcome as always.

Ended up using 6 x 5 minute subs through the little Astrotech 65 EDQ/Modified Pentax K-5 IIs.

The full size image looks amazing! Very purple-pink but very amazing. Maybe tweak the colour balance..?

Still turned out quite nice
Makes me want to put my DSLR on my scope and do some wider field mosaics one moonless night

Thanks Steve. I've had a couple of goes at it processing it now and that's the best colour balance I've been able to manage so far.

I tried capturing the LMC a few times before I got a modded camera and the results were always disappointing. When it comes to astro-imaging every new step presents its challenges I guess.

Thanks Colin. Mosaics are a lot of work but the results can be stunning if done well. Unfortunately my plans didn't work out this time but I'll have another go down the track.
