Sun in infra red light

Hi
While imaging Mars in daytime in infrared, I thought Id try the Sun too (with solar filter on of course. Enough IR light was getting through for imaging.

10 inch F5.6 newtonian, 800Nm and longer IR pass filter, modded 350D, single exposure ISO 200
Seeing wasnt good at the time, but IR light is less affected.

Do you think it made much of a difference using the IR Pass filter as opposed to not using it? Also what solar filter was used? Would be interesting to se a side by side comparison for overall detail. Do you think that a solar continuum filter would have improved things?

Thanks all
I used a Thousand Oaks standard glass type filter (shows Sun an orange colour). Yes a continum filter may have worked well too, though i have heard that IR is less affected by atmospheric turbulence then vis. light.
