ngc 1999

Was looking at Paul Haeses' excellent image in last Sky & Telescope and and ngc 1999 was mentioned in the caption. I thought it was a dark nebula but according to Wikipedia studies by infrared and sub mm telescopes it is dark not because it is dense cloud of matter but is truly a hole in the nebula. Just thought that was interesting. Cheers Richard.
