Another obscure planetary nebula

This one is ESO 40-11 in Chamaeleon. Not very exciting I guess except for it probably not having been imaged in colour before. Conditions weren't all that good with smoke haze and only poor to average seeing for the most part.

Cheers

Steve

Nice! The Ha + OIII + LRGB combo worked well. Super sharp too.

Thanks M&T. The processing was a bit of an experiment which seemed to work well so I'll probably be using it in the future.

Not so obscure any more, thanks! It's gorgeous and fascinating. I wonder how many lightyears across is that halo.

Thanks Rick. As you may have guessed this is another one from Sakib.

Thanks Steve. If you knew the distance I guess you could work it out. Unfortunately I don't think the distance is known for this one.

Thanks Michael. Yes the majority of them are very small but there are a few large relatively unknown ones around.

Another mysterious blue-green disc...they seem to be all over the sky

Is this another Sakib suggestion? Looks like no outer Halo?

Mike

Hi Mike

Yes this is another Sakib suggestion and there certainly doesn't appear to be a halo. Of course they would be harder to see from my less than perfect location. You would probably do much better with your darker skies.

Steve
