Had a surprising contrast of weather yesterday , Saturday started as bleak and cold as most of the week has been , nestling into the lounge waiting for the AFL West Coast telecast noticed the cloud thining ...

....holy mackeral by 6.00 the sky was clear from north to south , east to west . With a rush headed outside to set up the gear wondering wether to set up in EQ mode to do some DSO shooting or not try my luck and just set up in ALT mode and relax . ALT mode it was , along with the some LPI action to boot , going inside to get my maps i recived the EVIL EYE from the Queenbee , all sense of guilt was removed when i mentioned i spent the greater part of last Saturday squashing tomatoes for her father in the annual Italian sauce making weekend {had super clean hands after that

}.
Even though it was clear and remarkably clear for the rest of the evening the temperature took a nosedive quickly but seeing and transparency looked good . Did some early scanning of the top early evening targets plus i wanted to check near M104 and sight the Stargate and Jaws clusters . Moved to Saturn , pretty steady so i set up the LPI and decided to use Registax 3 for the first time . In the process i managed to sit on my scope dust cap which i had put on my scope chair , geez , bent it a little but managed to work it back into form

. Heres one shot anywhy from Registax , i still think i get the same and with much less effort through the LPI automated software .... must upgrade to a toucam soon........

After some fun there decided to move to Jupiter , unfotunately the GRS wasnt going to be visible until after midnight but i still practised a bit . For some reason Jupiter has hard to get clear last night considering the favourable conditions , thank goodness for a electric focuser . Heres a series of pics starting early , you can notice in the later ones a intersting white cloud formation in one of the major bands , and lastly you can just make out the GRS appearing .........
