Horsehead

Hello,
had a bit of fun last night despite the MINUS 2.5 degrees celcius. I'd written off the evening due to clouds but they parted totally for a full night of imaging (47 Tucanae, Tarantula, Orion and the Horsehead).

I saw some meteorites like one rarely sees them too. I even caught myself calling out in excitement (good thing I live on a property with a bit of acreage).

Anyways, my main computer died on me so I couldnt quite process/stack these RAWs/TIFFs as much as I would have liked since I had to use my trusty-yet-less-gutsy guiding laptop.

Here's two versions of the horsehead: one that would have made a good poster if done properly by someone who knows what they're doing (unlike me still just playing around with all this) and a cropped section fo the Horsehead.

Single shot, 906 sec at ISO 800 with EOS 20Da on a C9.25 F/6.3 on CG5 autoguided at prime focus of course (the scope is probably off balance too but i cant tell anymore because the grease is so thick...).

cheers

frank

Very good Frank! I admire you guys who capture DSO's. I hope to get there one day in the next couple of years!

Nice horsey shots Frank, they have turned out very nicely, excellent colours and details. I would make a poster out of it anyway, it is definitely worthy of it.

top stuff

Thanks everyone,

the "poster" shot suffers terribly from field curvature though unfortunately...
I have 4 shots in total to play with but 2 of them have satellite trails through them. There's a new plugin someone could invent for PS : sat trail remover!

thanks for the feedback
cheers
