A nice piece of beachfront property would do nicely.
Take the tent and scopes, what a great weekender.
Now how do I get there.

cheers

Real "coool"
I wonder what happens when NASA decides to bring back some 'Mars rocks' and if they happen to come from 'your' land whether you get to keep some?

"Your rights as a land owner include the mineral rights. Unfortunately you can’t charge others if they land a spacecraft on or near your property. The Outer Space Treaty (1967) clearly states that Mars and other celestial bodies are for the heritage of all mankind for the purposes of exploration. So, people can land on or traverse across your property as long as they are exploring. To preserve the appearance of the Martian surface all cities are zoned for underground construction."

Is that like the "Restuarant at the End of the Universe", if I deposit a dollar in a bank account today then by the time I get there the compound interest will be enough to pay for my meal.

cool

Only problem, I hear, is the local council. They won't let you put up a permanent dwelling or an observatory without a permit. You just can't get away from them it seems....

This is the closest you'll get to a water on Mars:

You don't have to go there, They send it to you.
Postage and handling US $7.99

Anyway, I'm a part owner of a piece of Mars already.
Go here to view it. http://www.seti.org.au/spacerock/

It arrived via "Air mail" about 8 months ago, and went through the roof of a house in Brisbane.

It is having it's final and most critical, Oxygen 17 and 18 isotope testing at the moment, and should be finished by the end of this Month.

All tests so far point to Mars as its origin. But the Isotope tests will be the final proof.

Mike.

Thats a shame.
Mars rocks are worth a fortune.
Several fortunes in fact.
Well, thats what I am hoping for.
I want to retire and just concentrate on Astronomy.

Would you really sell the rock if it was 'martian'? No money would be enough I'd think...

Yes it will be sold.
The money gained will be put to use finishing off our observatory.

The estimated value of the rock, If it proves to be from Mars, is between 2 and 3 Billion Dollars. Much cheaper than sending a spacecraft to bring samples back.
That's what I have been told.
I will retire for sure, and spend the rest of my days teaching school kids about Astronomy.
And fishing.

I will wait and see.

Mike

Lets put the Mars rock thing on hold.
I've just had an email from the man getting it tested.
It said " Bad news and good news". Thats it!
I won't find out anything until Tomorrow night.

Mike.
