Stelle Doppie - Useful link to double star database

Hi All,

a lot of you probably already know about this, but I found this site recently where you can download double-star databases as CSV files.

http://stelledoppie.goaction.it/index2.php?section=2

The useful thing about this is manipulating the data is a breeze in excel or open office.

I have to admit, I'm not actually all that interested in double stars myself, but I *do like to use them as a means to test a particular setup and resolution limits of a particular evening.

It's pretty easy to generate a list of stars that are relatively bright, yet also relatively *similar in brightness (you don't want glare to be too much of a factor), and exclude stars that never culminate very high, then sort them in order of separation. By using the filters under 'advanced search' you can extract exactly this kind of information.

Hope it helps someone else :-)

Markus
