Uranus

Hi all, here is an image of Uranus I took last night. Planetary imaging is definitely a whole new game.
The image was
30 images of 5 seconds in Luminescence.
15 images of 5 seconds each in RGB
Processing was done with MaximDL
The image shows small objects above and below Uranus that are very close. Is it possible that I have imaged two of its moons or is that wishfull thinking with 5 second exposures.

Great image, Ric! Was this with your 12" and DSI II?

It definitely looks like you've captured some moons.. i'm sure Dennis (the master) will let you know the names of the moons

Can you let us know the time the image was taken? Judging from the position of Uranus relative to the star field, it looks like the evening of 22nd or 23rd October?

If so, the moons are (top) Oberon mag 14.2 and (bottom) Titania mag 14.0.

Hi Dennis, you are correct, it was the night of the 22nd between 10 & 12.
Mike it was with the 12" and DSI II. They are a great little unit and I cant fault it in any way
Thats great to know that I captured a couple of moons, I should capture some more and have a go at an animation. That will test me out.

Go for the animation. They look great. If you plan it carefully you may be able to get Uranus' "U turn" return to prograde motion in afew weeks (not sure when exactly atm) I was hoping to get it but unfortunately there is this great house in the road

Hi Paul, you've got the cogs turning now, that certainly would be a great animation, I will have to look into this a bit more.
