IC 2944 Running chicken baked for 3hrs then reheated

Hi all,

I seemed to have managed to overcome some more mount issues (software ...i thought i had solved it but i hadn't but maybe have now ..). Have been limited to dodgey 5min subs but here we finally have perhaps my first half decent effort since buying the qhy 22

3x 20 min subs per S2, Ha and Oiii (1hr per channel). Hoping to add quite a but more over the coming months.

a couple of SHO versions (bright/dark) and a SOH version which i think is pretty cool colourwise.
Hi res https://www.flickr.com/photos/803366...blic/lightbox/

EDIT repro with extra hour of Ha and less highlight blowout

Great result, Russell. Stars are round and sharp so the longer exposures are working fine. And all our favourite features are there. Nice also to see the progression from earlier efforts.

What really interests me is how recognizable it is when you swap from SHO to SOH palette. It's still the Running Chicken.

Very best,
Mike

Sometimes green can be a bit over powering in NB images and while it is quite dominating here too I quite like the overall look and the green is a bit more turquoise than usual, so... I like it!

Cheers Mike, yes good to make some progression its a slow climb sometimes.

It is interesting to switch palettes everynow and then to see how it looks.

Thanks a lot Marc - yes the extension tube i bought for my focuser (to reduce tilt) has worked quite well although it was stopping me from using autofocus (draw tube too far in), so have ordered a less lengthy extension tube that will hopefully speed things up for me.

Cheers Mike, sometimes i think those all blue shots lose some variation in colour / detail. saying that i've reprocessed with the aim to reduce the highlight blowouts (RegiStar was introducing the blowout on RGB combine).. and it turned out less turquoise but highlights are better methinks. Still a lot to learn

The 694 chip certainly delivers! As for positive comments from me - I had no idea that these are quite rare... LOL

Thanks very much Ray I'm quite chuffed with it, S2 is noisy but weather hasn't helped to be able to remedy that!
