M42 and dust

I reprocessed the whole batch, and as the PI gurus (RickS, Troy and Steve) suggested, I applied HDRM to bl...y everything, .. and here is the result ..
Hmmmm, Unfortunately, the very middle of the core is beyond any repair ........

Ian, you have excelled yourself there. The dust is wonderful. The whole image gives a good feel for the bright stars of the trapezium region bursting out of one wall of a thick bit of dust and creating a huge cavity-bubble toward 2 o'clock. Very narrative-rich.

Best,
Mike

Looks fantastic Ian! I'm guessing that was taken from some dark skies. I tried to capture some of the dust from the suburbs, didn't work so well haha

Good stuff. You've certainly brought a lot of dust. I wouldn't worry about the core, the field is well balanced as is.

Great work Ian. The dust (always a difficult subject) has come up nicely and the colours in the main neb look good.
