ASNSW honours memory of Barry Gerdes

Many of you will have fond memories of my late father Barry Gerdes. It is with pleasure to inform you all that the Astronomical Society of NSW has honoured his service to the society by naming the house on the astro imaging field on the Wiruna property, the "Barry Gerdes Lodge".

Barry enjoyed his new moon weekends up there and took pride in maintaining and improving the facilities at the house for others to share and enjoy.

The "young boy" in the picture is Barry's grandson (and my son) Anthony.

I'm very pleased to see this Trevor, the few times I spoke to Barry he was more than happy to offer the advice I sought.

Was just thinking of Barry. Only ventured down to SPSP once, but on arrival near the house was greeted by Barry and immediately felt at home.

Fitting memorial for a great guy and amateur astronomer.
