Nikon 810 with a 300mm f2.8 mounted on a gimble head.. set to continuos high... about 1000 of a sec from memory...

The distance was about 25 feet - very minimal crop (if any) the birds are very tame in our yard and don't seem to mind me pointing my lens in their direction (as long as we continue to give them seed each morning)

Feeding time does bring it's share of "disputes" though... lots of noise and the occasional flying feather...

Rainbow Lorikeets, beautiful looking things but they strip the pear, apricot and plum trees just before the fruit is ready to pick. There are times later in summer at Mornington when there are 1000's of them in the trees and perched on buildings, the noise is incredible. Mark

Thanks... I do enjoy my bird photography ... takes a lot of practise... thank god I'm not back in the good old days of using film... I would be broke in a few days !!!
I fill up two 128 gb cards in no time at all, of course the 810 shoots full frame - so a lot of pixels per shot !!!
The keepers are about one in every fifty or so... but it's fun trying to get "that" special shot.

Yep - the lorikeets are pretty good at giving the "angry bird" look to anyone who gets in the way of a free feed...
