New Olympus 400mm F4 lens

I am wondering if this lens could be good for astro shots. It may need a smaller sensor like the 8300 (which is micro 4/3rds in size).

Greg, I'm sure the optics would be nice however I've heard that people have trouble with the IS mechanism moving around. I would go for a manual lens you can get some very good Canon, Nikon and Olympus lens on ebay.

I'd bite the bullet and step up a tad to a Maksutov Newtonian, there's a nice 6" f/4.8 on sale at Astronomics for a fraction of the price of that lens and it will be diffraction-limited, which camera lenses generally aren't.

I hope it would be suitable for use with a DSLR "clear glass" modified to include deep red and IR,when used as recommended, and properly guided at full camera resolution.
