Take off.

Hi All,

One of the bucolic pleasures that arise from my current location, is an abundance of bird life. Besides the beauty, it also has its practical uses. I have a substantial veggie patch that is vigilantly patrolled by many willy-wagtails intent on feeding their growing broods. Consequently, I don't need to use a lot of insecticide. Here's one I captured the instant before take-off from my rain gauge on a mission to eliminate yet another white moth.

Target acquired ... engage ... Take-off !

Canon 40D + 70-300mm L-series lens at 216mm fl and f/7.1, 1/160th second exposure at ISO 200. Slight crop from the original.

That's pretty cool. I love these birds and miss them here in Tas. Grew up watching them ride around on cows' backs, and darting off for a quick insect, and back again.
