Tarantula region mosaic at a focal length of 520 mm
Here is my latest attempt at a two-part mosaic of the exceedingly rich Tarantula region using a Televue NP127is working at f/4.2. Many of us obviously think alike and target the same objects independently, but produce our own unique results depending on our optical equipment, image processing workflows and sense of aesthetics. Constructive criticisms are welcome as usual. I might eventually change my bad over-processing habits ...
Individual aesthetics for different colour palettes aside, this is a lovely detailed mosaic of the area Murray and I quite like the framing, great result
Thanks Mike. I just watched the fabulous you tube video reporting on your dwarf galaxy discovery. You’re an extremely impressive individual. In regards to the framing of my mosaic, I made a mistake. I meant to frame the major axis of the mosaic orthogonal to the one used. By the time I realised my mistake, it was too many frames into the image capture, and so I persevered, hoping for the best. The composition is OK, but I think that more nebulosity would have filled the composition if I had of stuck to my original plan.
Very fine! The wide field of view gives a new perspective on the neighbours. My eye is particularly drawn to the big looping hammock filaments occupying much of the bottom 15% of the image, and the knotty structures at top left. Most enjoyable exploration,
Thanks Placidus Team. My image has its merits, but in a certain respect, your recent mosaic is far superior: you have the advantage of working with a large aperture and long focal length which provides far greater support for the details which are only hinted at in my wide field mosaic. When I zoom in on your high contrast mosaic, there is strong support for all the detail - it can all be seen clearly, solid and strong. Everything about your mosaic is almost perfect. I guess every instrument provides a different complementary perspective.
Nice result Murray, I like the colour palatte and details. Shame about the framing but perhaps you could continue and add more frames to fill in the top & bottom regions?

That's an interesting presentation, and one i quite like artistically. Some fine detail and nicely framed (saw your comments to Mike, and still like this as is).
Yes, that's a good idea Andy. May be next spring when I have some clear skies again, I will collect more sub-frames towards the top (west). There are more nebulae in that direction. The composition might work too.
