Pelican Style Case Issues

By Pelican Style cases I mean the rugged foam lined cases use for sensitive equipment.

I have a number of these brought from a certain super cheap car place !

Opened up one I hadn't looked at for a while with a pair of 12 x 70 Andrew's binoculars in it. I found that all the rubber on the binoculars covered in a white dust, at first I thought it was dust getting in but on inspection it was on the underside as well. Some of the plastic on them was also tacky to touch as if the plastic was softening.

I quickly looked at my other cases with cameras and other gear in but none of them showed similar issues.

I have heard of plastics giving of gasses and that this sort of think occurring. Thought I would mention it as these cheaper Pelican cases are popular.
