Mosaic M42

Looooong time, no post.
Havnt picked up a scope since Astrofest and prior to that for 12 months. So I decided to see how much I can image from suburbia now that some crazy loon up the road is illuminating a really huge Lepard tree with a floodlight and a bunch of crazy hippies a few doors down go out each night waving torches around (not to mention BrisVegas CBD being only 4.5 Km away).
Thought I do some thing easy to test goto and the rest of the system and found that SGP placed my camera to within 4-8 pixels of where I told it to goto with plate solving. Dome worked flawlessly as did all systems
Did a mosaic with 4x10 min Lum of the two areas imaged before clouds came in. Stacked in DSS and ICE to merge.

It's nice when everything just works. Wish I could say the same. The mosaic worked out well.

It's great to hear that your gear is working flawlessly Allan.

Get 3nm Astrodons and you will forget ur neighbours n proximity of BrisVegas (I shoot from about 2.5km from the central part of the CBD)

And unless you have a camera with very low read noise you'll never be read noise limited
3nm Astrodons have me wanting to change sensors

Thanks Peter - just glad it still works and I can remember how to put it together.

Just wanted to see what I could get with Lum filters with the light pollution and the moon being up. May have to get out the NB filters in the end.

Saw your impressive NB images at AAQ but I'm stuck with 12mm ones for the time being but that's no hardship compared to what you put up with

nice that is all worked well. Isn't SGP a gem - I had trouble rebuilding my system recently and tried imaging the old way for one night - blimey it was hard work...

You pointed out how good SGP was a while ago, so thanks for that good advice.
