M42 widefield using the ED65 +nightscape camera

Took this 2 nights ago while it was cooling down in the Hunter valley. Details are SW ED65 F6.2 , celestron nightscape camera , 22 x 120sec subs with darks/biases /flats. Captured and preprocessed in Astrofx and tweaked in photoshop.Needs more subs to improve noise , hope you like .

I must say Sash that this looks to be a pretty good M42.
Star shapes are good. Core saturated but some shorter exposures and HDR combining would address that. Lots of nice detail in the surrounding nebulosity. Thanks for sharing.

I am a beginner at this, so can't make the comments of experience Rodney has, but I think this is looking pretty good and would like to see the results of the extra processing you mention.

Had 5 second subs so layer masked sufficiently to get rid of most of the central burn Hope you like the result. regards philip

Nice one Klaus.
Concerning your colour blindness,I wonder sometimes if processing in monochrome would help with the balance of colours
The dramatic effect is quite splendid
As a comparison here's the one I did
Edit ooops - 3x100 and 5x3 mins 3 darks per time no flats DSLR and PS CS3
