I never thought I would put this one up for sale, but it just isn't getting any use.
I bought this from the UK I think 2 years ago brand new. I am the first and only owner. Everything is in absolutely mint condition as new, indeed some components have never been used!
It consists of not only the items you can see in the photo, but in addition:
- Polarscope
- Dovetail
- Counterweight bar and weights (I only used it with camera lenses, but you can use it with a small telescope too apparently).
- AA battery holder - I ran it from a 12v supply, but it can be run from 8 x AA batteries.
It doesn't include the ball head - which I bought as extra in Brisbane.
The whole thing takes only minutes to put together and it steady as. You can perform a rough polar alignment using a compass and inclinometer good enough to get 1 minute from a 135mm lens at least, because that's how I used it. The photo attached was taken with a 135mm f2 lens on a modified 50D.
If you actually bother to align it properly - as I did this year at AF - thanks Tony
you can get 5, 7 or 10 mins with the 135mm lens without trail. In short, if aligned properly is amazing. Astrotrac claim to have got 5 mins with a 800mm lens!
I have also included a snippet of the original invoice I paid for it. Today, exactly the same kit - with the extras will set you back around AU $3200
I'm looking for $2200.
