First ever lightning stack

Hey everyone

Here is my first ever attempt at stacking lightning images. i know its not perfect, as i dont know much about photoshop, so i just play around with things even though i dont know what they do or mean

Any feedback is welcome. the blue in the photo is not post processing, thats how it came out when taking the photos

always feel good getting a good shot, just getting a bolt is hard without a lighting trigger

Na David, you have to do it the hard way, it's a bit like fishing you never know when your going to get a bite
Maybe a trigger for daytime stuff, as that can be really difficult, but not at night

By the way Carly great effort indeed, well done

That has 'stacked' up very decently Carly, The CG's (Cloud-to-Ground) lightning bolts sure get my heart racing !

The blue'ness is most likely caused from the cameras WB (White Balance) settings, , - if you have it set to Auto WB, it can change to what its think best - in this your image, i'd say it "if was set to Auto" it has chosen - Tungsten Light which looks pretty good for Lightning, better than a dirty red that some WB settings produce ...

I usually use Tungsten Light - but I also change some 'onboard filter hues aswell, just to 'kill off some blue for better processing !

You can select 'Tungsten' manually so it doesnt/cant change, especially when your stacking multiples .
Check your Camera manual if you need know how to change these settings, pretty straight forward when get the idea,

All the best ..

Nicely done Carly. I rather like the blue and think it is attractive for this photo. Although you can usually readjust the image in graphics programs to simulate different colour temps, and sometimes it's very handy, but this looks good.
Well done.
