Snake Valley fire

Ken, Leon and others from the Snake Valley area. Just heard of a fire near your place from the CFA on ABC. Thoughts are with you. Hope you nip it in the butt quick, guys.

Thanks for your concern Steve,

Well, I am as confused as anyone else around here! We have fire-trucks zooming up the road constantly, CFA vehicles whizzing all around town, sirens in the distance, all the usual commotion in a bushfire (just like the last one) but I'll be blowed if I can see any smoke!

No-one else in the neighbourhood knows whats going on either!!!! We just can't see or smell any fire.

The 'New' CFA website isn't functional yet so I can't get info from there.

I had a phone call from friends about 2k away who live in the dense bush asking if we can see if it's heading towards their place again. They have firetrucks in their street too! But I can see nothing.

It is currently 34 degrees with gale force winds, so if one took off it would go berserk!!!

If I find out any more info I'll let you all know. But for now we all seem safe.

Obviously the old saying where there is smoke there is fire doesnt mean anything in Victoria

Hope it got contained quickly, I know we have had quite a few fires in SA yesterday and today. Most of them deliberate attacks.

Yep, saw those on the news Andrew, but nothing about the one here. Fire trucks and CFA vehicles are still whizzing around as I type this

Just been for a drive up the road to find out what was going on.

Some dopey stupid knucklehead son-of-a-whatever (or the same one as last time) lit a fire in exactly the same place as the last big one! Only 1.5k from my house!!!

Luckily for CFA and us, he was dopey enough to light it in the same place as it's already burnt out from last time.

They had the main fire out in about an hour!

Their only concern now is embers being blown by the gale force wind to an unburnt area, so we will stay on guard.

Some people are just plain STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they ever caught and convicted? What do they get if convicted?

Thing about being a firebug is that the evidence is all too easily destroyed. You probably need to catch them in the act to get a conviction. If it's a local and you know who it is then as a community you might be able to do something positive that stops it happening again.
