The Horsehead Nebula

Hello,

This image consists of 8 hours of Luminance data blended with 8 hours and 20 minutes of Hydrogen Alpha at a blending of 13% Ha to 87% Luminance to form the luminance layer for the combining with 2 hours and 30 minutes of Red and Green data with 2 hours and 15 minutes of Blue data. The total amount of data is 21 hours 35 minutes.

I processed the Lum and Ha seperately before I combined and have not added the Ha to the red channel data.

I am unsure about this one. Any advice on processing would be greatly appreciated.

I probably cannot help much with the processing business but it is looking good even from the 200kb image :-)

The image looks pretty good to me Mark. Maybe you need to boost the curtain behind to bring out the detail in that. Colour looks nice and from what I can see the detail and luminosity in the actual HH is very nice.

Its on my list of things to image with the RC this summer myself, as I reckon a close up of this much loved nebula is highly valued amongst astrophotographers. Myself included.

Quite lovely. A good one to print on A1 and hang on the wall.

I agree with Paul, Mark. Nice looking HH and good colour. Just missing some of the detail you'd expect to see in the curtain and the "pillowy bits."

Cheers,
Rick.

Looks overall great. There has been a problem with the registration of some images with double stars in the bottom of the image, mostly on the right side.

Be good to track down where that started.

Nice colours and the rest of the stars are really round.

Greg.

Really nice image Mark. I also think it would make a nice print.
