Hells Fires NGC 2070

A busy day precluded being able to go Aurora Chasing tonight but the clear skies are still there to be used.. NGC 2070 Tarantula Nebula. 50% of the pictures I took last night had to be thrown out due to Smoke... I don't know what time it arrived but at least the last hour and a half of the subs were ruined. So less integration time than I would have liked in the end only about 2 hours. GSO 12" F4 Newt with an ASA 3" Wynne reducer corrector (F3.8) on an EQ8 matched up with an Atik 11000M

Thanks for looking

All the best

Paul

Superb! I've never noticed the faint arches at the very top of the image before. They're out of frame on most close-up shots, and too faint and tiny on wide-field shots, but now I know what to look for, they're there. So yours is a very refreshingly different image scale.

Thanks Guys. The 12" F3.8 goes deep very quickly. If I could have got the remaining 2 Hours the faint stuff may have been a bit brighter.

There really is a lot of whispy detail over there that I didn't know existed. I think at some point in the future a mosaic may be in order to get that whole complex

Its a favourite target of mine as every time is see more detail. It is really special with it's gnarly twisted look.

all the best

A very nice image although overall its soft. I take it that is from the smoke?
Good colouring and a great wide vista.

Greg.

I think the smoke did have an effect and I have deliberately tried not to add any sharpening because I didn't want to encourage artefacts. I could do a little more but for some reason my topaz DeNoise has stopped working and that in conjunction with high pass and smart sharpen is my usual choice for sharpening without increasing noise.
