The Dark Doodad

Been a while since I posted an image. I have only had 1 good imaging night this entire year which was out at Katoomba Airfield. Work has offered me very few opportunities to get away. I posted 1 image from that session which was my extreme Centaurus widefield (can be seen here)

This is another image I got earlier on that same night. It has been imaged a lot but this was my first real attempt at it. I found it a bit of a challenge processing it and wasn't happy with the shot at the time. It needs more data than just 90 minutes worth. I also think it needs more focal length than just 200mm. There is a lot of detail within the dust of the Doodad that I can't resolve with the lens. But I have a soft spot for dark nebulae and like the two globulas floating in the field.

Very nice, Jase. Perhaps just a little understated, but that could be my less-than-subtle taste

Definitely dark and definitely a doodad.

The star colours and the colour and detail in the globular clusters is great.

Excellent stuff. Enjoying the FOV and it's been handled really well. Colours are great.

Thanks Mike. Tried to make sure I didn't over saturate the colours on this.

Cheers David, glad you like this colours as well. One of the things I was hoping to get was the brownish colour the Doodad seems to have in some other photos. I think I need more data, aperture and focal length.
