Rooted?!

Well, it is from the NT News, & the story *doesn't* feature crocodiles....

Perhaps the 'plant' was the bowl of Petunias described in 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy'?!

"Astronomer Geoff Carr said at midnight it looked like clouds would block the lunar occultation, where a plant aligns with the moon, but luckily they cleared before the event".

Easy to do:
My wife is a horticulturist and I don't know how many times I have excitedly gone to pick up her "Book of Plants" only to be disappointed again!
