Well with all the problems that have been reported, one must give credit where credit is due.....
I had two parcels recently posted to me from Mexico (read that as Melbourne if you are from that area) both have arrived, albeit a little slowly.
One was conventionally address by a member here and contained a bunch of astro stuff. (thanks Raki)
The second parcel was posted by a friend who in his haste to get the parcel to me, sent it before calling me to get the complete address with only my name and suburb and no return address......... But he did have a tracking number! Now normally such a parcel would automatically be sorted as return to sender and in the absence of a RTS address, the parcel would go to an "undeliverable" state and eventually rot in a warehouse somewhere.
I called Australia Post and spoke to a very genuinely helpful 'Nathan' who was able to have the parcel continue in the sorting system and not be rerouted to the "undeliverable" state.
Eventually the parcel got to the local main sorting centre where it was given to the contractor responsible for our area. This person delivers astro stuff to me on a weekly basis and recognized the name and duly brought the parcel to me.
Thus many hundred dollars worth of fine German optical equipment got to me rather than ending up in a warehouse waiting to be auctioned off.
So there is a benefit to buying lots off stuff on a regular basis, so get over to the Classifieds and check out what is available
Yes, I know I could have said all this in 2 lines, but you probably read Lewis's 2 page thread "Bloody Australia Post" so this shouldn't bother you
Excellent Matt, yes, many members complain about Aust Post, however as you, I have never had a problem and all items were delivered, with nothing every getting lost.
Admittedly sometimes a bit slow, but the end result is always satisfactory.
The only problem that I have ever had with Aus Post was on an item that I sent. Sold a QHY5L-II on here a few months back and it arrived with ants! Ants! No damage to the camera thankfully :-)

You are NOT permitted to have positives with Aus Post! NO MAIL FOR YOU!
The last two internet purchases I made (one ebay, the other IIS calendars) each arrived on my front doorstep on the NEXT business day.
I can't complain about their service.
Things go wrong occasionally, but who expects anyone to be perfect.

Working in the post office many years back it was fairly common for half addressed items to get delivered if they made it to the final delivery point.
Best I saw was a common first name and postcode only,show up at a 30 000 delivery point office and the last postman to look it over said Think thats a ladies sister on my run , I know shes staying for a couple of weeks and don't know her name but that flowing style of writing matches mail I take there ,,delivered the letter correctly

I have calculated that to 100 decimal places and have found that the answer is a transcendental number, wherein the chances of a repeating set of numbers occuring directly correlates to the chances of Aus Post delivering on time.

That's a wonderful, feel good story and I'm so glad everything worked out well .
My postie likes to stop and have a chat if he sees me around the letter box. In one of our later conversations it turned out he had an interest in astronomy and then that conversation went for a loooooong time. Mail was delivered a bit late that day , especially when he found out that the package he just gave me contained a piece of the famous Russian meteorite a few years ago. He got so excited, he got me to open up the package right then and there . I was so nervous, and I didn't really want to because there was nothing between me and the ground on opening it and him handling it, in case it fell , but I did so anyway . Aye, I'm just too nice sometimes . But oh boy, what a thrill he got ! I'm sure he'd have some wonderful stories to tell of him touching a piece of it .
One day, hubby was home and I said you go see him to get your stuff. He got rounded up for a good chat too . It's all good, I think it's a great to have a friend in your postie, especially going by some of the comments here with goods delivered that likely shouldn't have made it.
Nice story Suzy. Doesn't happen in Melbourne quite like that, well at my house that is…all rush rush rush round here (not me personally), not like the old days, that is 25 years ago when Melbourne was a big country town…but I digress.
My latest good story is my 10" Ed Byers RA and worm gear that was posted with the equally much maligned USPS on a Friday and was at my door on Wednesday lunchtime….5 days from the US of A West Coast that is…..how good is that.
