Been a while since we had a BIMBO session. Some friends are getting together 7am Sunday 20 September at Roma Street Parklands "Hub". If you're interested, I'm sure the more the merrier. Andrew "astro_south" and I will be there.
From Greg, the organiser:

Never done macro before? Just come along anyway and have a coffee with us, we spend about ˝ the time in the coffee shop anyway, talking about photography. There will be plenty of experienced macro photographers to offer tips also.

Hi Troy
Count me in, I’ll dust off the old 100mm F2.8 and put a fresh set of batteries in the flash. You’ll be providing the insects I take it?
Excellent!
Frogs, insects, and birds are included in the fee

Thanks fellow-BIMBO's, I'll hold you to those promises.
In addition, glue must be self-dissolving, non-harmful to flora and fauna, insects arranged parallel to the sensor and to include a bokehlicious background as well!
Having not seen Troy and Andrew for some 3 years now, I wondered if I would be able to recognise them in the macro crowd. Needless to say, this proved to be an unfounded thought; Troy was sprawled out in the dirt chasing some elusive insect whilst Andrew looked on – unmistakable!
The Roma Street Parklands was awash with camera toting macro photographers sporting a huge array of cameras, lenses and equipment.
The main challenge was, although previously promised, nay guaranteed by Troy and Andrew, the insects simply forgot to make an appearance…
However, after a couple of hours wandering around, some of the old skills returned and I managed to grab a few keepers.
It was great meeting up with you again Troy and Andrew, sorry we didn’t make it for morning coffee later on. Hope you guys had a productive day.
Thanks mate. Yes, little crab spider. They hide in ambush, colours similar to flower. I was actually going for a sort of Mandala shot on a flower next to this one. Didn't even see the spider at first. Glad you noticed
