I thought I would post this one even though I'm not 100% happy with it. The seeing wasn't that great probably because of the recent passage of a cold front. This was the first STXL6303 image for a while.

Cheers

Steve

A nice view of a tiny FOV, Steve. I'm working on a wide image of the SMC and that's a very small section of it!

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick. I'll look forward to your image. It's hard to find images of SMC objects.

Thanks Colin. There certainly aren't too many images of it.

You're probably being a little tough on yourself Steve. The image is not bad really. That region can be quite hard to produce really good results. I found with the SMC and the LMC the nebulosity is quite faint and the colours quite muted. I aborted an image run last year myself because of this reason. Are you planning on adding anymore to it? I wonder if there are other filter options on this object too? Perhaps some OIII to do a bicolour with an RGB wash?? Just speculating.

I do like how you image off the beaten track Steve.

Thanks Paul. I'm probably not going any further with it but I'll see. The seeing was pretty awful for most of the RGB subs. I have nearby hills to the south so I usually see the SMC through turbulent air and this was a case in point. Possibly some OIII might be interesting though as the Ha wasn't too bad.

I've always liked imaging unusual stuff. It helps my motivation. If M42 was the only thing available to image for instance I think I would be selling my gear.
