Helix Nebula with an Oiii twist

When you look at Helix in just Oiii its interesting how different the photons are splattered about in a sunburst pattern when compared to how the Ha appears. This is then a view of the construction of NGC7293 in bicolour but processed with a focus on keeping Oiii visible. Noisy as buggery, really not enough Oiii data but enough to get the drift I hope.

Thanks for looking

Nicely done David, it is hard to keep the OIII features visible at the same time as show the intricate Ha detail but you have done a commendable job here The less well known OIII details are pretty cool huh?

Nice one David. The Oiii channel looks like an explosion.

Thanks for the comments gents. Was interesting just working through the Oiii data as I hadn't seen it before. Its weird the way the Planetary nebulas work and I can see why the long focal length appeal as they are all different.

Very nice, David.

I agree that there's a place for showing just the OIII on some objects. You've motivated me to get cracking and show an OIII-only NGC 602 that I've been struggling with.

Best,
Mike

Nice work, David. It's a tricky balancing act. Shame the Oiii in the Helix isn't brighter and hence less noisy
