Lots of deep space favourites in this image, hence me putting it in this section.
Taken during the ASSA Alpana Astro Camp last week.
Nikon D7000 (unmodded) using a 50mm F1.8D lens at F8, mounted on an NEQ6 mount.
12 images were used for this, stacked in DSS.
Most were 7 minutes at ISO1600.
Great composition Bob, with a nice demonstration of the dust lanes. Not over processed to bring out detail either. There are some really delicate looking streaks of dust and gas. I would really like to see a little less green in the image. It would be an absolute cracker without the green. Detailing of the nebulosity both dark and light is really nice. Nice work.
Thanks for the feedback Paul
I'll have a look at reducing the green. I thought i had it reasonably balanced, but i think i can see what you mean in areas. (Edit: I can really see the green now! It's funny how you don't see it until someone points it out, but now its obvious)
My workflow is pretty simple, and i'm sure i could make this image better if i knew more about layer masking etc, but this is just some level adjustment, saturation and color balance in PS.
Thanks again
Reduced the amount of green in the IIS shot.
Not sure whether red dominates now though. It's hard to get the balance right. Lots of A-B comparisons to check, but yeah, was deffo too much green before.
The astrobin version is still green though, for now.
Cheers
Bob
Great wide field shot of the centre of the Milky Way and while the original looked pretty good anyway, the new version looks to be an improvement. The AstroBin link still links to the old version though, I think..?
Thanks Tom. I think it was your spot i took at the camp, so double thanks
