Brent - in spite of the dribblings of the Daily Mail (!), this is no animation - it's the real thing!

"The images were captured by NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC), a four megapixel CCD camera and telescope on the DSCOVR satellite orbiting 1 million miles from Earth".

Sure does.

I think we've got the better side for viewing though.

Dean, I know it's the real thing,.. animated from a series of LRGB photos taken by DSCOVR. I was actually impressed with the Daily Mail's write up in that it was quite technical for a 'tabloid' and had a lot of real factual stuff in it. They must have at least one decent journo in there with them somewhere.

Brent - in pedantic mode, I'd suggest that this is more accurately described as (orbital!) time-lapse imagery, rather than 'animation'.

Cheers Leon, pedantics aside, I thought it was pretty cool too.
