Apart from suggesting a coma corrector it looks really nice, especially with the full moon plaguing the skies

Thanks Colin.

Ummmm, . I have one in. Still experimenting with distance from the sensor. When I have finished with M17, I will mess around with another distance.

The Baader MPCC Mk III suggests 55mm. That's what my ruler says it is. My ruler must be wrong... Also, the 11002 sensor is HUUUUGE!

From what I can tell it has a 44mm corrected field so that just fits in with the 11002 sensor at ~43mm. Could be a spacing issue, possible too much? I'm not a good person to comment on this however, never used one

Hi Scott,

I know you put a lot of work info this scope and the images are getting better and better. May I ask - what is the focal length of your Newtonian?

EDIT: Okay, I figured it out About 1200mm, so your scope is about F/4.8. This corrector should work since it has been optimised for F/4.5. I am assuming you measured the distance from the CCD to the bottom surface of the MPCC T2 thread. Really, no idea why the corrector is not helping with the stars...

Apparently it is 1150, at f4.5.

Does that alter your calculations?

Oh by the way, thanks for the kind words

Nice detail coming out there Scotty. Perhaps a little hot in the core, but good contrast on the rest of the neb, and some nice nebulous extension on the outskirts. I did notice the stars as has been mentioned, but I didn't find it overly distracting. Great job mate.

Hey Scott,

I just say what I see - the images are getting better - you are the one who is doing the work

FL 1150 means you are right smack in the FL that the corrector has been optimised for. It must be the spacing then, as it looks to me that you have your mirrors well aligned. Maybe you could experiment with reducing and/or increasing the spacing by say 5mm, and see what it does to the stars?

Or you could just ignore the stars and enjoy using the telescope

I am thinking I am going to just ignore the stars.

There are no Malins among my shots so, if I am happy, then tbhat is the greatest concern!
Besides, Straton does a great job of removing the stars.

As long as you're fine with it, that is all that matters

Nice Ha M17 Scott. I must do this myself one day now that I have an interval timer for my old FS D70s.
