M16 - Hubble palette version

With clear weather in Canberra continuing I've managed to get quite a bit of new data on M16 (the Eagle nebula). The latest is a Hubble palette version and I'll probably post more over the next few days as I work out the best ways to present the data.

Cheers

Steve

Exceedingly fine.

We've only just noticed that we've never tried the Eagle in SII. You've encouraged us to give it a go.

Thanks Mike and Trish. Remember that you need lots of data as the SII emission is very weak.

Sharp detail in the dust columns Steve. AOX seems to be working well.

What a great image and , as Paul says, the detail in the columns is excellent. I especially like how the glow on the edges of the columns has come out.

That is particularly sharp and the stars are tiny. By the way if you look at the Cedic team photos from Chile, the RCOS 14.5 inch scope matches beautifully with the KAI16070 sensor.

Greg.

Thanks Paul. Yes the AOX is doing okay. Seems to be relatively idiot proof too.

Great detail! I don't love the color palette but wow, the pillars look almost 3D

Thanks Marco. The Hubble palette is an acquired taste and many people don't like it much.

Fantastic result Steve. Did you do anything specific to bring out the depth of field i.e. sharpen closer structure and blur faint/distant features? I enjoyed the palette and saturation. Suits this target very well. You also doing an RGB with your narrowband data sets included?

Thanks Jase. I did do some sharpening on high SNR areas but nothing specifically aimed at enhancing depth. I do plan on making a true colour version but haven't got there yet.

Thanks Rick. It's certainly the best M16 I've ever taken I think.
