Saxon 12 inch collapsible dob

Hi Everybody,

My first post and I'm glad to be here and share the joy of stargazing with everyone.

After a lot of research I've decided that this is the dob for me. I also think that the $1500 odd dollars from, Optics Central, is a fair enough price.

However, I found a dealer in Indonesia called - "great niaga nusantara" - that sells it for US$740. I emailed them and shipping to Sydney is US$80.

I know that there is a good chance it's some kind of scam but I thought other members should at least be aware of things like this.

Has anyone had any dealings with this company?

Welcome to IceInSpace.

Never order anything like a telescope out of Indonesia.

It is most likely a scam.

If they are going to try and scam us they should at least try and get the weights correct. The quoted weights are for the 10" version. I wish my 12" OTA only weighed 15 kg.

You can also consider buying the 12" Skywatcher collapsable from http://www.andrewscom.com.au/optical-telescopes . They are a bit cheaper at $1399 at the moment. You'll also get an up-to-date Black 12" Skywatcher dob and not an older white one with Skywatcher crossed out and Saxon written in with a crayon. Their freight costs are very reasonable too.
