Finally after 3 months of acquiring my equipment and fine tuning the mount and the crayford focuser on the RC8 etc.
after a couple of outside test runs, to find what needs doing, i have "mark 1" setup.
I was quite surprised that the balance with all of this worked out ok, especially after spending lots of bucks on dovetails etc.
If anyone has any suggestions, they will be welcomed.
I have a 5mp starshoot and a canon EOS 60d that will be used for imaging.
I have been coming to grips with all the new softwares, ( avistack-registax and startools) still figuring out which is best and efficient of course they differ in usage too.
All i need now is the guidescope solution.
Oh my! I think I am hooked again after many years.
My mount was purchased 2nd hand and I had similar problems to the ones you mentioned to me earlier today. The worms had been adjusted far too tight, there was next to no grease in the bearings, especially the tapered bearing on the RA axis. I had to strip it down completely, clean and grease all moving parts and replace the spur gears with a belt drive kit because they had been poorly meshed and damaged. I then had to resolder the power socket because it had come loose. After 5 weeks of work and $350 spent it's finally running nicely. At the cost, I should have probably bought a new one.
