Antares Area + M8 + NGC6188

Antares and its clusters NGC6121 & NGC6144. Two panels of about 1h each in 5min subs with a QHY8 on a GSO 8" F/4 from first night at SPSP 2015 just before shooting M8

Full res here. [4071x1792 - 7MB].

Added 3 overlapping panels on M8. Seeing wasn't as good as before and focus probably a little out but still some decent details.

Full res here. [4867x1847 - 7.3MB]

Added NGC6188 in Ara. Tough to get that neb out of the dense starfield. I kind of stuffed up my exposure sequence. I did 20x1min instead of 20x5min and went to bed. Oh well, still turned out reasonably ok I reckon. Seeing on Friday wasn't as good though. Got clouded out around 10:00pm too. Warmer night too so wet as...

Full res here. [3040x2016 - 6MB]

That's a corker of an M4 Marc. Very nice balance between showing lots of stars and showing the unique and identifiable signature of the brightest ones. Great work.

Best,

Just noticed the addition of the Lagoon. Your pano's are excellent, Marc. No hint of a seam - just one big image. And lots to see.

Thanks Mike. Registar now works with 64bit. So I can register large panels and stay in FIT format.

Good results Marc, and I am favouring the brown tones in these.
Congrats on the exceedingly long diffraction spikes too. It's a special talent :-)

Thanks mate Yeah I lay it on thick. I'm actually thinking of getting CF ones. Ultra thin and very stiff.

Thanks Russel. At first I thought it was a satellite trail but then I realised it was bloody nearby Antares.

I won't be doing a mosaic with that field size. That's 2 panels at 800mm FL. Rho is quite faint and far too big an area. If I do I'll do it with the FSQ. Even with a 200mm lens you can't fit the whole area in two panels.

Nice job on both of those Marc. The Antares region looks great. You might consider adding a bit more saturation to M8.

Cheers

Steve

Excellent Marc. The Antares image is my pick of the two. Very nice pairing of clusters. Well done

Thanks Steve. I wasn't really going for the neb and tried to keep the starfield relatively colourful and unclipped. My colour processing is a bit rusty too.

Thanks Jase. Lucky shot. I didn't really mean to.
