M25

Another one from last night. Out the kitchen window. It's shielded from much of the wind that way. Plus I don't have to pack up when I'm finished.

This is open cluster Messier 25, although it's lost in a star cloud in this shot!

From Wiki "It was discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745 and included in Charles Messier's list in 1764. M25 is at a distance of about 2,000 light-years away from Earth. The spatial dimension of this cluster is about 19 light years across."

8" F4 Newtonian, Bader MPCC MKIII, 104 x 30 seconds, HEQ5 Pro unguided, Pentax K-5. Astrobin. http://astrob.in/180133/0/

Thanks Rick! Clusters are my stand by when everything else is too hard.

Depends on the object Paul. I don't really have much of a set routine. Usually curves stretch, saturation and colour balance for something like this. It's a fairly simple target. I didn't spend long on it. Some I slave over for hours!

Nice one Kevin - clusters are good stand by.
I'm hoping for clear skies tomorrow night - first one in over 2 weeks.

Tony.

Thanks Tony. Good luck with the sky. We had a clear run for ages but overcast now.

Nicely done again Kevin. These often overlooked targets are actually very pleasing to look at. Very Pretty.

Such great star colours Kev - nice to see all the white and yellow stars as a change from the blues and reds. I really need to save up for an MPCC - it really does a great job for you.

Thanks Ross and Cam. The Baader MKIII does a really good Job Cam. Expensive but worth it.
