EDMOD and Gamepad issues

Hi all,

Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue, but I have been using a Logitech wireless game controller with an HEQ5 via EQMOD (with Win 7 64) successfully over the last few weeks. I was using it yesterday to do some solar observing...all good. Shut it all down properly before dinner, went out in the evening, fired it all up again, and EDMOD refused to recognise the game controller !! I replaced the batteries in it just in case, although they were fairly new, but no success. In the end I took the controller's USB unit out and put it in another USB port, Windows reloaded the driver for it, and then I had to completely reconfigure the settings in EDMOD.

What I can't work out is how or why the game controller's original settings were completely lost in the course of shutting down and restarting. Any suggestions? . I don't want to have to go through this randomly, especially if I have an imaging session planned.

Thanks,

Hello Neil,

Have you got your USB ports configured to not go to sleep after a period of time, which is a feature of Win7 which can affect the way they work later it seems. I prefer windows XP for USB, Win7 onwards seems to do weird stuff to USB. No scientific data available for my assumption.

Cheers,

Bart.

Thanks Bart, where would I find the settings for that, somewhere in Device Manager -> USB Controllers?

Cheers,

Hello,

Another thing I thought of, possibly the hand controller had gone to sleep and you did not press the button to wake it up? This was a common problem through the EQMOD Yahoo group.

Device manager is the place for the USB ports thingy, and I'm sure you have to click on each USB device and set each one. Computer wizards please jump in here.

Cheers.

PS: Do you know who this is??
