Carina + Orion + Thor's Helemt

Last Sat night was not the best at Linden but I did manage to get some reasonable results.

Eta Carina. 10 Subs at 3 Mins each.
Orion + Running Man. 60 Subs at 1 Min each.
Thor's Helmet. 6 Subs at 5 mins each.

Celestron C11 with Hyperstar. QHY10 CCD Camera.

I was surprised how much detail jumped out of Orion after using the DPP processing in Nebulosity. This Image is not made up of different exposure times. All subs were 1 Min.

Thor's Helmet is realy too small for the Hyperstar. Even this is cropped a heap.

Nice but a bit black clipped Charles. I think there's a lot more for the data to give.

Fair enough.

I am not good at processing. I was totally amazed at what DPP processing brought out in Orion as it is.
I picked up a bad habit of killing the bottom end to remove Vignetting because I never used Flat fields back then. I only started using them
when I started using the CCD. It makes a huge difference. I am still getting used to how little data is captured with the CCD. The Subs for Orion
only show the Trapezium and nothing else until it was processed. I think I had to remove the bottom end on Orion because the data was so low their
was a heap of background noise after processing it.


I will have another play with it.

Sounds like a very quiet CCD. I get sky fog in 30 seconds at F4!

You can tell how stretched the image of Orion is just by the Halo's around the stars. Usually don't see them with only a 1 min sub. And they are not bright either.

It is a very quiet Sony Super HAD Sensor. When I bought the Camera I did some 10 Min darks just to see what sort of noise it had. The Noise was almost non existent at 10 Mins even when stretched to the max.

They claim you don't even need to use darks most of the time.

On a 10 Min dark Stretched to the max their were 3 bright pixels and a few dozen very dim pixels. The rest was just black. Temp set at -10 C.
