EQ mod project

I am interested in peoples experiences using the EQ mod gear, and what sort of issues that have been experienced with it.

Hi Elkin, I've been using Eq Mod for a couple of years now starting with using it to control my Heq5 Pro mount and now for my Eq 8. I directly connect my mount using a shoestring cable purchased from Bintel and rarely find the need to plug in the Synta handset. The features of the software are too numerous to mention in this post and I have not found any issues of concern in using it. There is plenty of documentation available and if one takes the time to go through everything in detail on the way through the learning curve then there shouldn't be any issues. Don't forget as well that there is the Eq mod users group on yahoo which has a wealth of resource.

I have been using EQMOD for a couple or years and wouldn't look back unless I had plenty of money to fork out for other software solutions. Worked well.

I currently use only EDASCOM and EQTOUR but anticipate using the other later when i have the time to do more imaging.

I also use PHD2 for guiding as well. The two work well together.

I have also been using it for a number of years now originally with Stellarium and for the last couple of years with TheSky6.
With either software you can control the mount directly or through the hand piece.
I currently don't use the hand piece and have used it this way for for a few years without issue.
Very good and very stable mount control to the point of setting an imaging run and park time and going off to bed leaving it to its own devices.
Get up in the morning and the scope is parked and sleeping just waiting for me to turn it all off.

Just started using it really.
Before i tried it, it looked a bit daunting but it worked simply and well.
The ttl chip died and I had to go back to handset for a while . Didn't like going back to handset.

Echoing what others have said; EQ Mod is a great piece of software and it always works. Have been using it with CdC to control HEQ5 for a few years, and when recently got AZEQ6 and plugged it in everything just worked from the first time. The hand controller becomes redundant with EQ Mod.
