LX200 possible drive issue?

I managed to score a cheap Meade LX200 off ebay, sold as as-new and never used. It definitely looks unused; there's not a scratch on it.

However, now that I've got it set up at home, I wonder if one of the servos is busted, or if I'm doing something wrong during setup.

When starting, when I choose auto-align, the autostar controller displays "Finding home" - which I understand to mean it's looking for the furthest it can turn its RA axis - but nothing happens. Something should happen, right?

When playing with the controller a bit more, the scope happily slews through the DEC axis, so the servos on that are fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do next? Even if I need to drop a few hundred $ on having the RA servo replaced or getting one to replace myself it's still a bargain - so that's fine.

Well never mind, I think. I rotated the RA axis 180 degrees with the lock off, then turned the lock back on and turned the scope back on.

All the servos are doing their thing now. I'll have a look at Jupiter this arvo and see how accurate it is
