Looking to borrow ED80, f/6ish, for filter review in Sydney, please.

Hi all,

I recently acquired a brilliant Daystar Quark Prominence filter and have been overjoyed at the image quality it throws up. I did a short first impression review that I posted in the Equipment Forum:

I'm preparing to write a more in depth review and as I have two refractors (4" achro & a cheapie 80mm) and the image quality of each is very different, I would like to borrow an ED80 scope to do a more thorough review. I'm asking for an ED80 as its f/6ish focal ratio and focal length is better matched to the two refractors I already have.

The scope will be mounted onto an eq mount, so it will need to have mounting rings and a Vixen/Skywatcher style dovetail plate.

I'd need the scope for about a couple of hours during a sunny day to do the review of the Daystar filter.

The scope won't be damaged by the Sun as the way these filters work, the energy that is passing through it is out of focus, focused wholly within the filter where the energy if dealt with safely.

Please let me know if you are able to help out with a scope. I'm happy for you to sit in and even help out during the use of the scope. I'll be using my eyepieces for the review as control standard, but if you would like to bring your own eyepieces you are certainly welcome to try them out with this Quark filter. I will also use my own 2" diagonal.

I'm only too happy if your scope is set up on your mount by you (I certainly understand this), I'm only too happy to bring the diagonal, filters and eyepieces (keeps my review standard that way) Your equipment doesn't leave your supervision. It is precious, and I would be most grateful to have access to it for no more than an hour this way - I'll bring the bikkies too

Thank you for the offer Edward. No, I am not looking any more as I now actually have MORE scopes than I was looking for!!!

Sorry to say also, but I am not doing night time observing with these instruments, but looking at the sun. Well, I guess I am still doing 'star testing', but not in the way we would normally think of it!

I've started working on this review, and this is turning into an OMG! experience

The more I use this filter, and the more experience I gain, the better and better the image quality is getting. And some scopes are just, well, I'll just say jaw dropping good!!! And more magnification is not necessarily king here either.

Now, if only these clouds would just bugger off!!!
