Hi all,

finally, i couldn't believe it - a clear night with no moon or gale forced winds or crazy hot temperatures!

took delivery of a new astronomik ccd cls (and also a Ha 7nm woohoo), prior to that my subs were limited to 70 seconds before skyglow clouded it up too much.

attempted 180 secs here. would appreciate if someone could comment on whether that looks to be too many seconds in the single sub.

found it fairly hard to colour balance but i was tired while processing this.

i've also recently moved to a RCCI (with filter draw) so got a lot of new things i'm trying to sort out (stars bottom left for eg).

also is it just me or is gabriela mistral really a cyberman? or perhaps alien space monster when viewed side on? i swear that is all i see now when looking at this...

yep needed one already!

turns out i used a dud stack from DSS which made it harder than it should have.

think this is much better. atleast a step in the right direction.

Some nice detail coming through Russell!

Presuming this is the 600d, if so what ISO?
Actually looks pretty good in the single sub, to me just about right.
Wouldn't go longer though.

Thanks for the feedback Justin yep I was hoping the ccd cls would push it back to about 3 mins - although that's the darkest part of the sky for me so may have to wind it back a fraction.

Iso was at 1600 nice to see the sensor in the 20deg range again - summer nights - not ideal.

Hi, Russell. Looking hugely better now. I like the Gem cluster peeking at bottom left, and love the great big arcs of gas at the far right.

Thanks mike and trish - yes it nearly calls for a mosaic but then you'd do the entire carina area!

Sorry also for the good people for mentioning GALE winds ... Ehhh what is happening ? Clear and no forecast for it... I'm trying ATM and I don't think I've grabbed a circular star yet ...
