Photographic filters

Will 2" eyepieces accept a 50mm photographic filter, say a polarising filter?

Unfortunately, no.
The photographic size to match the 2" astro filter thread is a M48.
You may find some suitable filters on ebay.
The photo filters are also of lesser (optical) quality than most of the dedicated astro filters. Caution.

Many thanks, I owe you a beer for the $35 saving I just made in not buying the photographic filter. Cheers.
