Jupiter GRS/Io/shadow transit

Hi guys.

Tomorrow morning at 1:25am AEDST, the GRS will be in the middle of a transit, Io's shadow will be already on the surface and Io will be just about to start it's transit.

They'll all be visible until about 3am when all 3 will leave the surface at roughly the same time.

Would make for a nice viewing/imaging opportunity for any insomniac astrophotographers or late night observers.

12:41 here, I might give it a shot. Not too late, but late enough. Drove to Port Augusta and back today 680 km's. I will try for it. Maybe this time I will get focus right and hit the jack pot.

That's awesome Stuart! You should post some more planetary stuff, they are really good! The 4th from the bottom is excellent!

Thanks for giving us a view of what I missed!

Lovely shooting Stuart, I really like the forth from the top. The moon is clearly shown on the face with the shadow and good detail in the GRS. Some festooning visible in the eq band and even some detail in the polar bands. Good rare shot.

I tried to get out, had the scope set up but at 277x the image was like a washing machine. It was very clear but being at altitude sometimes means that the winds are very close to me and this upsets the image. So no image unfortunately, I have been waiting for this opportunity for over a month. Now I will have to wait again.

Once again well done Stuart, you must be pleased.
