So, I've played with my new 'scope a few times now and I do miss the 10:1 focusser on my dob, plus the limitations of the mount mean it does take a while to settle after focus adjustment.
I see a couple of options:
1) feathertouch 10:1
2) JMI motofocus
I could of course combine the two, but that seems rather excessively expensive for a scope of this caliber....
The latter option seems like it might answer both problems in one?
Anyone have experience of the two, preference, or other suggestions?
Hi Everard, I got the JMI motofocus for my Nexstar 8SE. It gives much more control over fine focus and has the additional benefit of eliminating any shake when focussing. Easy to fit. I'm happy with it.
Heh, I had seen those, but I would feel bad asking someone else to spend their spare time doing something I could do myself, but can't be bothered!
Although, that is assuming he is donating the unfinished version, if he was selling his nice steampunk finished ones I'd be happy to pay I think!

I agree with Paul here on the FT focusers , this is the single best bit of gear I have bought in years , makes the focusing so precise , not cheep but they are the best .
My C9.25 has almost zero mirror flop when changing focus , even at very high powers and this accessory allows that with ease .
If you look seriously at an FT focusser, go into the "Seconds" part of their website. I bought mine as a cosmetic second at a decent discount but I have never figured out what the "Defect" is, works perfectly and looks perfect to me.

Thanks for that info, they are a fair bit of money for a focusser, bit it is good to hear that they are what they promise.
