Canon 1100D Info Required
Good Day All
I had some seriously sticky goo stuck to my filter covering the ccd on the 1100D ,I eventually stripped the ccd out to enable easier access & cleaning of the object surface.
After reassembly I found that the exposure indicator(Little arrow) in the viewfinder did not respond when changing the ISO or shutter-speed setting.
I assume that one of the cable ribbons is not seated properly ,I have reinserted/seated them again but still the issue persists.
The Canon folk here is reluctant to advice me which cable/ribbon/wire/plug controls the specific function on the camera.
Perhaps someone has run into this problem before or has some technical experience in this regard.
All advice is appreciated.
Thank you
Andre

Andre. This has been sitting for a while and you may have it fixed by now.
Ribbons are generally the culprit, no live-view, no power, etc, but this one is a bit odd. Ribbon cables come in 3 types on Canons from what I can see and the options that come to mind are;
Straight plug in type - these can easily sit skew, so make sure they are all straight.
Clip over the cable, and
Clip on the opposite side to the cable. With both these be careful that the clip is not resisting the ribbon from seating fully home - when inserting the ribbon. The clip part sometimes drops half way and blocks the ribbon.
Ground straps. There are sometimes two - tighten the screws - easy to forget.
Not sure if that helps? Pretty much all the obvious stuff.

Thank you Roland , reseated all the ribbons ,problem still persist.
If one could find out which ribbon or cable carries the signal it would would be easy to rectify, I don't think it makes a difference for astrophotography but I would like all the features to be functional.
Thanks Andre

Inspect the contacts on the end of each ribbon with a magnifying glass - look for contamination between the contacts. Breaks, damage/corrosion. Clean if need be with alcohol. A toothbrush is good for this. Has it been subject to condensation for any period?

Check that the plastic light pipe has been reconnected.
It's like a short thick piece of fishing line and plugs into a small hole underneath the prism and little to the right.

I think the light tube on the top right hand corner is used by the IR illuminator to assist with autofocus.
Cleaning out the contacts with alcohol is a good idea. Have you put the camera ina sealed plastic bag with dry rice to see if there is any latent moisture?
