Help on focusing

Hi Guys need some help and advise.
I have to scopes sw80/400 ref. and a 10" dob. I have been trying to take pix's using nikon d5100. This is a attached to an eyepiece projection adapter that has adjustable focus by sliding the barrel and looking it into place with two thumb screws, it does not have any markings regarding the position it is in (no gauge).
Last night I tried it on my new 80/400 ref which is my travel scope just to take a shot of Jupiter using eye piece projection. No matter what I tried I just couldn't achieve focus even using a Barlow it's like ther is not enough travel in the focuser. In standard projection mode with the eye piece unit removed I can get focus.
Can anyone tell what I should be doing to utilise the eye piece projection unit what am I doing wrong? Will I have similar issue with the Dob.? Is there another adapter needed?
Thanks
Peter.

Peter,

Which eyepiece were you using?
Do you remove the diagonal and work straight through?
(Do you have a 1.25"/ T2 nosepiece on the Nikon.)

I was using 15mm and 20 mm plossl the Camera plugged into the 1.25" diagonal.
The eye piece projection unit comes with the 1.25 nose piece.
All the bits fit and re all specific to the camera.
Attached pix's of unassembled and assembled

OK
I'd then try the set up without the diagonal, this will place the eyepiece closer to the OTA.
I'd also use minimum projection distance and the 20mm for starters.
Using a similar set up with a barlow, I think would need a 1.25"/ T2 nosepiece for your camera....

The T2 thread has the bayonet connection to the camera and a female T thread for connection to other adaptors/ spacers.
You can get a version which is 2" male direct to the T2 camer fitting.

Ok there are two ways I can do this unscrew the "quick" side in attachment ie using the nose piece or remove the quick attachment and directly screw the eye piece projector unit straight on
Which is best or will it just be trial and error?
While we are at this can you tell me what this adaptor is used for it appears to be 2" with one threaded end the other a quick slide in attachment.

Peter,
The top part in the image on #4 message looks like a 1.25" to T thread, and the bootom part the T2 canon adaptor. Joined together they should do the job.

The 2" adaptor...could be a section which screws onto the drawtube in the focuser to accommodate 2" fittings.
