Jupiter 20150201

Some reasonable seeing on the 1st. Bird has bought a property just 1klm west of me so I have had a few master classes on image processing.

Thats great. What equipment did you use, and how did you process it?

Hardware is in the image description, processing is complex and depends on the seeing.
Firecapture for ASI120mm-3, Ninox for ser, AS2 for ser from ninox, Registax6 for wavelets, ASi3 for me, gimp for blur and sharpen, psp fpr colour balance. details added with firecapture.

Thanks Russ, there really are no secrets to any of it.
Good seeing, perfected collimation, good focus (which is only possible when the seeing is good) and lots of luck. Processing is an art form which I have only just begun learning.

Great image Phil, Anthony is teaching you well.
Send I big hello to him from me David (dave47tuc) Rubyvale is a long way from our days gone by in Snake Valley camp! Oh I did manage to get a eyepiece in his scope once lol!
Which he did enjoy
I wish you both well in what must be very beautiful dark skies in that part of the world.

Bird is coming to a BBQ tonight so I'll certainly say hello.
Seeing was also good in mid jan so gave that a go as well.

Thanks Mike, I'm hoping Bird's presence will bring good seeing as he usually captures great images wherever he goes. Here's an IR from the same morning 2015-02-1.

Wow, great. Wonder what Jupiter looks like visually through a 12 inch Newt under 0.5" seeing ...one day....
